Disconnect to Connect — Season of Separation

"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1

sea•son
noun
1. each,of the four divisions of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) marked by particular weather patterns and daylight hours, resulting from the earth's changing position with regard to the sun.

We can tell the changing of the seasons by nature. We look for colorful leaves in the fall, cold snowy days in the winter, cool sunny days in the spring & hot humid days in the summer. One thing for sure is that we always know what to expect for each season. But what about the seasons that God places us in? We can’t be sure what to expect. The Word of God tells us that our thoughts are not God’s thoughts nor our ways His ways (Isaiah 55:8). Sometimes God flips the script on us & puts us in a new season.

Let me be completely transparent & personal—I am in a season of separation. I know what you're thinking. "Girl, what? Separation?" I said the same thing when God made it plain to me that this was the season that He wants me to be in for now. I was so confused that I decided to look up the definition of separation to make sure that I knew the exact meaning:

sep•a•ra•tion
noun 1. the act or state of moving or being moved apart
synonyms: disconnection, detachment, disunion

So, Lord...let me get this straight...you want me to separate myself? From what? From who? Then I realized, it wasn't my responsibility to separate myself. He was going to do it for me. Not understanding why God would put me in this situation, I felt betrayed by Him. Why would he detach me from people who seemed to be positive influences in my life? Even though I felt hurt, afraid and completely lost, I chose to trust God during this process. I understand that He has my best interest at heart. His Word says that He'll never leave me nor forsake me (Deut 31:6). Although I may not understand it right now, eventually it will all make sense in His timing. As the hymn says "We'll understand it better by & by".

Maybe you're in a similar season. God may be calling you to a higher level in Him or maybe He's trying to get your attention through the people that you surround yourself with. Be encouraged & know that God is about to blow your mind (sing it Tasha!). Trust the process. I know it can be frustrating but there is so much beauty in growth. Be of good cheer.

During this season. don't forget to:

  • Pray — communication with the Father is so important during this time. This is you inviting the Lord to come into this season with you. Pray for guidance in this new season and discernment of relationships.
  • Fast — fasting is an act of worship. It is the process of sacrificing earthly things for spiritual necessities. It shows God that you desire more of Him.
  • Read — stay in your Word. This is where you will find your encouragement. This is also one of God's many ways of speaking to you.
  • Faith — faith is the act of trusting God. It's seeing the light at the end of the tunnel when surrounded by darkness.

Today, I am encouraged because God has a purpose for everything that He does. He loves us so much that He's willing to break us down to build us up in Him. Be the clay & allow Him to be the Potter. Praise Him in advance for the victory that you're going to experience in this season.

xoxo,
Shereece
